Event Title:
NYC VSTS User Group: Making Friends and Influencing People - Selling VSTS to People who Don't Know They Need It
Event Description:
Description: How can you sell VSTS with all the open source tools out there today - Bugzilla and Mantis, Subversion and CVS? What is a VSTS advocate suppose to do? I was able to sell VSTS to two very different teams; one was a web hosting company and the other was a DHS Provider. Both had different requirements but the same goals--to control what is being developed and tested and to have real time reporting. The answer was VSTS. Please join and learn what I did, and what I didn't do to motivate adoption. I will describe how I found support within the vast but very small community before the creation of the NY VSTS User group. So sit back and enjoy as this will be an entertaining evening with audience participation. Bio: Scott Cooper is a highly motivated Release Manager/Change Manager with over 15 years of experience in managing all aspects of project life cycles (SDLC and ITIL) to achieve the highest standards of compliance. He currently is Head of Global Equities Incident, Change and Release Management at RBC Capital Markets. Scott possesses in-depth knowledge of Waterfall, Scrum, RAD and Agile Project Management skills and procedures. He also has over 25 years of troubleshooting experience on all platforms in the computing world (Mainframe to Micros) and from CPM to Windows. He is a member of AFCOM (Association for Computer Operations Management), AM-CHAM UK (American Chamber of Commerce - UK) and many other organizations. He has been an instructor in the US (A+, Net+, Linux+, NT Server & Workstation, AS/400) and in Europe for Computer Operations and Administration. His not for profit work has been in PLUS (Project Literacy US) and for the HELLP Syndrome International Foundation (High risk pregnancies).
